Congratulations Sullivan. It was an almighty win last Friday, with outstanding participation on the day from the students. It was wonderful to welcome students from the Primary Schools and to see them enthusiastically fill events in age groups above their own.
Thank you to all of the staff who were involved in the event preparation and to all the staff and students for their efforts on the day. We now look forward to heading to Jamestown for MNSEC Athletics next week, with selections made from this for Adelaide Athletics.
NAPLAN testing has started this week and seeing the students focused and on task has been very pleasing. We look forward to receiving the results as another piece of information to help teachers identify areas of strength and improvement.
Next week is busy with the Governing Council AGM on Tuesday night starting at 6.30 pm. Please consider nominating for Governing Council or attending the meeting on Tuesday night. New members are always welcome. Friday night is Quiz Night. The committee from Governing Council and the Quiz Master, Chook Harslett, have been very busy organising the evening and have sourced amazing prizes that are well worth winning. If you haven’t already entered a team, please call the school to register one. Funds raised are going towards some outdoor equipment for students.
A reminder to all parents and students: staff are not on duty until 8.30 am to provide a duty of care to students at school. Students should not arrive at school before 8.30 am. When staff have been working at school on weekends, many students have been wandering around the school, particularly around the buildings. No students should be wandering around the school outside of school hours.
By now you should have received a notification through Sentral to let you know that your student’s work has been assessed and feedback has been provided, as part of our continuous reporting process. If you are having difficulties accessing this information or Sentral please contact the front office and they can help you log in.

.
Term 1 has been a busy start to the year for the Ag block. We have been doing a big cleanup and update of the site in preparation for our new animals. We have purchased some hay bales from Paul Stevens, and we would like to thank him for supplying these. We have also welcomed some Isa Brown chickens to the site, keeping the Year 7s and 8s busy learning to monitor and raise them. The Year 9s have been learning how to pickle olives and will be producing their own batch of pickled olives for in-class competitions. For this, we are looking for donations of jars with lids of any size or style. The Year 10s have had the Merino sheep arrive and they will be learning how to get them competition ready as well as learning about all aspects of sheep production. We would like to thank Levi Hansen, Ashley Dunsford, and Tom Ashby for supplying these and assisting in getting them ready and onsite. The Year 11s and 12s have been focusing on theoretical aspects of agriculture to get ready for when their cattle arrive later in Term 1.
We would also like to make a huge shout-out to the Gladstone CFS Cadets for collaborating with Gladstone High School Agriculture to ensure the Merino shed was in spotless condition to house this year's show sheep. The team spent a couple of hours practicing using their equipment from the fire trucks to spray clean the waste and dirt from the sheep quarters and did a fantastic job. The CFS Cadets are seeking more volunteers to train students and other young people to be leaders on the fire ground and develop other vital life skills to be used elsewhere. If you are interested in joining, please contact Wayne Phillips (Flipper) on 0439 881 414

We have four current students and one past student from Gladstone High School heading to Cambodia at the end of Term 2 as part of a service mission with Projects Abroad. The next fundraiser is an Easter raffle. All money raised will go towards reducing the costs for students and also to help take essential items to Cambodia as gifts, like toothbrushes for the children in the schools. Any donations for raffle prizes would be appreciated and can be dropped off at the school before Easter. Tickets will be available from the front office and the students involved.
Thank you
Asia Brand, Hayden laird, Sataya Spencer, Reuben Hughes and Tealia Spencer.
On Sunday 5th March Liam Coe participated in the 2023 Men's Champions of Champions Lawn Bowls Competition. This event saw many players from other clubs compete for the title.
After a brilliant hard-fought contest, Liam emerged as the overall winner of the event!
Liam is the youngest person at the age of 15 years to have won this prestigious event in the Northern Western Bowling Association.
We would like to congratulate him on an amazing achievement.
Well Done, Liam!
