Principal’s Report
We are slowly finalising staffing and subject choices for 2019, with a lot of work happening behind the scenes to make this happen.
I am now able to announce Jacqui Edge has accepted the position of Senior School Coordinator for the next 3 years and Kate Cameron has accepted the position of Wellbeing Leader for a year. We still have a few teacher vacancies to fill which we hope to have completed in the next week. Our Farm Manager position is about to be advertised for 2019 so if you know of anyone that may be interested please encourage them to contact the school.
In the meantime the Year 12 students are coming to the end of their exams and staff are busy uploading student work and packaging work for moderation. Year 11 students have exams next week and will commence their studies for Year 12 in the following week.
Year 10 students are also very busy with all students working on their projects for the Crop Science Investigator Project. At the end of the month winners will be selected and go onto a competition with MNSEC schools as well as Burra Community School. Year 10’s will also complete a series of timed tasks during next week.
The Year 9’s have been making subject selections for their elective subjects in 2019 with a number of new options being chosen. Year 8’s will soon be given the same opportunity to choose from some subjects for next year.
Last Friday staff worked on the development of the schools Site Improvement Plan after analysis of both our schools data and our feeder schools data in determining our future priorities for the next three years.
As we continue with next four very busy weeks a reminder the Presentation Night is on Monday, 10th December, in the School Hall. We will be having a light supper catered for by our students and there will be displays of students work including many of the Material and Product projects that you may have seen on Facebook. Well worth a look!

GLADSTONE HIGH SCHOOL BYOD (Bring your own device) PORTAL ONLINE
Thinking about purchasing a computer for Christmas?
Before you do, check out Gladstone High Schools ICT portal containing devices we would recommend as minimum requirement to see your child’s ICT need met, whilst at High School and beyond.
Gladstone High School is committed to aiding students and staff in creating a 21st Century learning environment. To facilitate this we have engaged the services of ASI Solutions in supplying, delivering and promoting the bringing of a computing device to school by all students in Year 10 - 12. To support us in delivering this initiative we have developed a BYOD policy with standards and guidelines to:
- Facilitate and promote the bringing of a computing device to school by all students from Year 10-12 for use in their education
- Provide a safe user environment for students
- Ensure a minimum standard of device compatibility
- Enable students use technology to further their learning
This provides a basis on which Gladstone High School teaching staff can continue to tailor lesson delivery so that students can use their devices in class toward specific learning outcomes.
To purchase a computer for your child to use at school and at home, please access the ASI Solutions online portal.

Year 11 Essential Maths Bake Sale
Our Bake Sale held on Friday the 2nd of November was successful. We made a profit of $124 that was donated to 2 charities that the class voted on. The charities receiving the money is Save the Children & Help Tai Walk Again. Our task for this assignment was for the Year 11 Maths class to understand what it is like to have a small business. The Year 11’s and some volunteers all had fun making and serving the food to staff and students.
