PRINCIPALS NEWS

We are very excited to welcome Sarah Treasure, as a Pastoral Care Worker to the school this term. Student Wellbeing continues to be an ever increasing focus for us and having Sarah join the team provides another adult for students to connect with. Sarah has included an introduction in this newsletter for some further information. We look forward to her long term involvement in our school.

On the last day of term we held our annual fun run followed by the colour run.  This year we negotiated a different route and went to Bundaleer. Despite the track being quite steep in parts, the chance for the whole school to interact together whilst walking and taking in the scenery was most enjoyable. The BBQ and colour run followed back at school was certainly a great way to finish up a very busy term.

In these next two weeks the year 12 students will be submitting the majority of their work with exams starting on the 1st November.  We wish them all the best for the next few weeks and well into the future as their time at Gladstone High School comes to an end.

During the term we will be developing our 2022-2024 Site Improvement Plan. One of the first things to consider is our vision. Three years ago, after much discussion, we decided our vision statement would be “Students will be self-directed learners using high level literacy and numeracy skills to participate successfully in a global context.”

To review this I would like you to consider the following questions:

  • What skills and qualities will students need to succeed
  • What and how do you want students to learn?
  • How can you help your children learn?

If you have any comments to make with regards to these questions please complete the survey with this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WHL9P9V by Monday 1st November. Alternatively please speak to a member of the Governing Council and share your thoughts.
