GHS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Even after being challenged by the weather and changing the date, as well as modifying the events, we managed to have the annual GHS Athletics Carnival on Thursday of Week 7. Prior to this, we had our 800m and 1500m events during Week 6, making the most of the cooler mornings earlier that week. Big thanks to Mr Cadzow, for preparing the oval, assisted by mentor Mr Martin. Ali Gulin and Deb Davis have done an enormous amount behind the scenes leading up to the carnival also. Thank you also to all the teachers, SSO’s, student and parent helpers, for assisting with measuring, scoring, raking, recording, setting up and packing up. It takes the combined efforts of everyone to get such a huge whole-school event off the ground. Well done to all students who participated and competed in events, and congratulations to those students who went on to be selected to represent GHS at the MNSEC Athletics Carnival in Jamestown on Thursday of Week 8. From there, students have the opportunity to be selected for the MNSEC Athletics Team that will compete in Adelaide in Week 10.
In other sports news, MNSEC football trials are coming up at Jamestown on Wednesday, 10th April from 4:30pm - 6:30pm and next term we have Statewide Netball in Port Pirie, Cross Country Trials in Willmington, then Cross Country in Adelaide.
