Congratulations Digger

Digger Glenn 700 Games
Saturday 24th of August, David “Digger” Glenn will umpire his 700th NAFA Game in Ororoo.
Digger was a very talented young footballer in his youth and was awarded the Best Under 21 player at Gladstone Combined Football Club in 1979 playing A Grade at 16. Unfortunately, a car accident cut short his playing career, and although he tried to play again after the accident, he was unable to continue with his playing career.
Digger umpired his first game of football on June 15th 1985. It was a Senior Colts game, and he umpired with the late Barney Redden, who was his inspiration to take up umpiring. Geoff Millard and John Sargent were also both actively involved in helping Digger get established as an umpire. Digger is proud that all of his 700 games have been umpired in Northern Areas Football Association, and he has been travelling around the competition, umpiring wherever the coordinator sends him for the past 38 years.
Digger has been on the NAFA Umpires panel for most of his career and did do several years of A Grade when younger; however, he now enjoys travelling throughout the competition, filling gaps for clubs in Senior Colts and the occasional B Grade game.
