Sports Report - Danya McKay

Hi Everyone!
We have hit the ground running in the sporting organisational realm, as usual for Term One. Managing the school sport has given me a great start to getting to know the students, listening to those who were nominated by themselves or peers as to what they could bring to a house captain role. It was great to see a considerable number of nominations; thank you to all who put their hand up.
I am pleased to announce the 2025 House Captains and thank them for the leadership and guidance that they will extend to their peers:

I am excited to see the GHS Swimming Carnival come to fruition on Thursday. There is some excitement building, and there seems to be quite a competition in creating decorations and promoting teamwork from the captains...so far, Richards Gale is winning in the quotes department!
Big thanks to the sports committee, especially Deb Davis and Paul Fogarty for their help getting ready for the swimming carnival.
MNSEC Swimming is on Tuesday 18th at Quorn from 10.45am - 1.45pm. Numbers will be confirmed Friday morning, with notes going home on Friday. Please keep an eye out for these in your inbox. GHS will take a bus; however, we will be grateful for some parent transport and assistance with timing during the day.
Thank you in advance to those involved for your support at the GHS Swimming Carnival and MNSEC Swimming.
UPDATE: The swimming carnival ran yesterday and was an absolute treat! The cooler weather made the day far more enjoyable for all involved. The house decorations were fabulous, adding some fun to the day. Richards Gale took out first place for house decorations with their tropical decorative style.
The highlight for me was seeing so many people step up and help out. The house captains led from the front, giving clear guidance to everyone in their house about the events, what is involved and the steps in between. The year 12 Bake Sale was a hit and the barbecue and drinks for the year 9 ski trip and Fiji trip were well supported. Big thanks to everyone who assisted with the day. It was also great to see comradery around the pool, congratulating victories and effort as people concluded their races, both from the sidelines and between competitors. This is great sportsmanship.
Sullivan came out the overall winner, reportedly the closest challenge in recent years, with Richards Gale coming second and Oswald third.
