Principal’s News
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all the students for their effort at Swimming Carnival last night. In particular, well done to all the house captains for encouraging the involvement of as many students as possible. Thank you also to all the parents for volunteering to help with various roles on the night. The last few weeks have been a steep learning curve for Jordan Smith as he has stepped into the role of Sports Coordinator. Along with an enthusiastic and organised sports committee he has organised the event and is now well underway in organising the Gladstone team for the MNSEC Carnival in Quorn next Tuesday.
Grape Harvest
Meanwhile Stephen Bosch is closely monitoring the sugar levels of our current crop of grapes to determine the best time for harvesting. This year it looks like we will have one or our largest crops of grapes. Please stay tuned as we are likely to be seeking parent support to come in and help with the grape harvest so we can get the grapes off to the winery in a timely manner.
Governing Council
A reminder next Monday the 17th February starting at 7pm is our Governing Council Annual General Meeting. All members of the school community are invited to attend. We are seeking nominations for Governing Council - Nomination forms were sent out last week. Please consider joining the Governing Council. It is an important part of the school and is an ideal way to keep informed of what is happening. It is an opportunity to be representative of the parent body and influence the directions of our school.
School Leaders and House Captains
Last Friday we held our Dux and Leaders Induction Assembly. Thank you to our DUX for 2019, Sophie Crouch, for her very insightful speech. It certainly provided students with some words of wisdom for getting through school. Our Year 12 Student Leaders coordinated the assembly with Stephen Bosch delivering a speech on the list of qualities recognisable in good leaders.
Congratulations to the following students for stepping into the roles of formal leaders.
Year 12: Georgia Wegner, Madeline Hansen,
Deputy Leaders: Jamie Magnay, Acaccia Wilsdon
Year 11: Tyrell Crosby-Woods, Max Crouch and Tanisha Wakefield
Year 10: Mahli Evans and Mackenzie Myers
Year 9: Reuben Hughes and Ammelia Chapman.
Each student was required to be nominated or nominate themselves. They then participated in an interview with the Year 12 Student Leaders and responded to questions asked of them. We look forward to such an enthusiastic group of leaders who have already put forward some great suggestions.
